The Dominican Republic is a nation on the island of Hispaniola, in the Caribbean region. The western third of the island is occupied by the nation of Haiti, making Hispaniola one of two Caribbean islands that are shared by two countries. The Island is located between Cuba and Puerto Rico, with 48,442 square kilometers (18,704 sq mi) and an estimated 10 million people.

RELIGION:
Christian, 95.2% including 88.6% Roman Catholic
Protestant recent immigration, as well as proselytizing, has brought other religions, with the following shares of the population:
Spiritist: 2.2%
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: 1.1%
Buddhist: 0.10%,
Bahá'í: 0.1%
Islam: 0.02%
Judaism: 0.01%
Chinese Folk Religion: 0.1%
There is an unknown number of voodoo practitioners.
(Islam 0.02% ??? My purpose is to Bring this number UP, Inshallah!)

LANGUAGE:
Spanish: The Dominican Republic is almost entirely Spanish speaking.
Haitian Creole: is spoken by Haitians immigrants and their descendants.
English: part of the new generation speaks English as a second language. There is also a community of about 8,000 speakers of Samaná English in the Samaná Peninsula.
French: is also spoken by a good portion of the population.

To contribute in increasing the 0.02% simply do what is easy for you. We are in need of many things thing to star our journey into preaching Islam to the Dominican nation.

Prayer rugs
Other good religious books, DVDs of Islamic teachings.
Children’s clothing, books, toys (for the orphans)
Abayas and modest clothing for the new converts (used or new)

We also need volunteers. Who ever has free time and able to travel to the Dominican Republic is more than welcome to join us. Help us distribute the goods, teach about Islam, anything you can do will be of so much help. Is never too little is never too much, anything counts and God will reward you for the good that you do. Mosque in the Dominican Republic

Mezquita Noor - Masjid al Noor

Statistics for Islam in the Dominican Republic estimate that 0.02 percent of the population are Muslim. Although the majority of the population is Roman Catholic, Muslim students and local organizations such as the Círculo Islámico de República Dominicana (The Islamic Circle of Dominican Republic) and the Islamic Center of the Dominican Republic (located in Miami) have helped spread Islam in this country. Currently, the Círculo Islámico estimates that Muslims number over 3,000 (most recent statistics), comprising of a good number of local converts.

The Círculo Islámico established the first mosque in the Dominican Republic in the center of Santo Domingo, about a five minute walk from the Palacio de Policía Nacional and the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) where Muslims from around the city would have easy access to reach it. The mosque is open daily for the five prayers (salat) and offers classes on Islamic studies for ladies and children on weekends. They also provide free medical consultation along with a free pharmacy, Consulta Al-Foutory, which is located in a separate building at the back of the mosque. Masjid al Noor is largely believed to be the only active Masjid on the Island and receives the bulk of the Muslim population for the two Eids, Ramadan, Salat al Jummah, and the five daily prayers. There is another Masjid which remains under construction in Los LLanos, Dominican Republic. Los LLanos is roughly a 30 minutes drive from Mezquita al Noor.

HELP Pakistan

Make sure your donations get to the needy, not to the greedy

When you are donating to help the people in need you want to make sure that your action counts and that you are really helping them. By making sure your donations get to the right people. I don't want to go too much into details, we all know the horror that the victims of the flood in Pakistan are living, specially now in Ramadan. Most of the victims don't have not even bread to break their fast. Some of us want to help, but don't have the money to do so. That's why I want for you to help me help others.
I do NOT acept CASH, nor CHECKS, simply send what the victims are in need for:

Medicine
Clothes, etc.

I am a Dominican Muslim, I'll be in Pakistan on August 20, 2010, willing to help the victims in need, inshallah. They are over 20 million people affected.  I am asking for your help, I am able to receive donations for the people in need until September 30, 2010 and I will personally with other members of my family deliver the goods to the needy people.
